To be fair these ‘projects’ could be called ‘series’.

Seeing Red

London is noted worldwide for its overcast rainy days but to my eyes the endless grey serves as the backdrop to the splashes and touches of red, which I’ve come to see as London’s unofficial trademark. The familiar shade of red is picked out on all manner of London imagery from post and telephone boxes to buses fire engines and the paper poppies of remembrance day. Not to mention the numerous bits of infrastructure like the traffic cones and emergency lifebelts along all stretches of water. Everywhere you go in London you’re likely to see ‘pillar box’ red.

Old Tailem pioneer town. South Australia

I visited this visitor attraction several times in the course of a year. I chose a one colour approach as it seemed to suit the ‘air’ of entropy and also because the punishingly ferocious sunshine had bleached the colour from almost everything. A gem of a location of endless interest.

Autumn’s Finalé - ‘Leafscapes’

Leaf litter has attracted me for some years, particularly in countries where Autumn is a blink between summer and winter. Each Autumn there’s a point when each tree lets go of it’s leaves, often the winds carry the leaves off but sometimes they fall in a wonderful heap at the base. A cascade of colour which for me can be Autumn’s glorious finalé. …. more images from this series

Adelaide Botanical Gardens - Infrared project

Midday sun in Adelaide isn’t ‘good’ light for most photography as it’s just too harsh, despite which I tried to get out with a camera. The more successful images I took were infra red, using an R72 filter on my trusty carry camera. The ‘Wood’ effect was especially strong and I thought it worked well in the garden setting. But then the garden was just a great place to find shade from the sun.

Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington

London has an enviable set of visitor attractions. The V&A just happens to be one I visit more often than any other.
